How did you come up with your business name: This is an interesting one, I set up my business in 2012 and decided on the name Foxy Ladies, 2 years ago I met my Boyfriend who’s a marketing consultant and advised me that I sounded like an escort agency (He is right, I felt so embarrassed, there I was loving the business name) All my friends and clients call me Fox (Real name Sarah, Fox being my surname) so after a long evening of picking a name that I really want to stand out, we decided on Tan With Fox. It was perfect clients remember to Tan with Fox. Its quick and easy for clients to write it in their diary. I love my Business name and it makes me super proud when I hear clients talking about it.
Solutions I Love and Use: I offer Sienna x and Skinny tans. All skin tones and clients Tanning goals are different. I love to work with a range of products to help achieve ultimate results for my clients
What Tan do you wear? I love the Sienna x 1HR tan, I personally have very pale skin and don’t tan that well. I love the fact I can rinse the tan off in just 1hr.
Best Celebrity Spray tan award goes to: The Kardashians, love them or hate them, they all know how to rock a Spray tan.
Why did you choose to become a Spray tanning artist? In 2011 I experienced an awful first time tanning experience, I owned my own Bouncy castle business at the time. I knew I wasn’t the only female to have zero body confidence. Having a tan is meant to boost self confidence. In my case I didn’t get to experience that. I knew I could make real women feel great about themselves. It isn’t about the colour I put on your skin or how much money I can make, its about the clients message the next day telling me they absolutely love how they feel. That is the great achievement I could wish for. I honestly believe I have the greatest job in the world.
If I wasn’t a Spray Tanning artist what would I be? Wow, I’ve owned A fish and chip shop and a bouncy castle business, both not being my dream career choices. If I had to pick it would be a interior designer, I love creating something that clients love.
My most embarrassing moment as a spray tanning business owner? Just one!!I had a naked mature lady fall into my tent grabbing the back for support (They’re not sturdy) the tent went over with her. I felt so embarrassed and told her it happens all the time. Also it has to be Anytime I spill solution on my hands and don’t wash them fast enough! Nothing like showing up at a client’s house with stained hands hoping they still trust you to tan them.
What’s the one thing you could not live without for my business: My clients, I see them all as friends, I have built up an amazing relationship with all of them.
What’s the one thing that you are not very good at owning your own business? My bookings, I really don’t like letting people down, so I will work late to make sure they get bronzed.
The one thing I wish I knew when I started my business: How important and time consuming marketing can be. Also how much completion you have once people see you becoming successful and message your clients under cutting your prices. We should all support and help reach each others dreams and goals.
Where I plan to be in five years: Still Glowing and Growing. I hope to share my skills and passion with like minded people in my own Spray Tanning salon. Offering the ultimate customer service and tanning package.
Business owners who inspire me: Deborah Mitchell, Inventor in skincare beevenom mask. She has created an amazing product to give clients that extra confidence boost within there own skin. She has grown an amazing salon offering the ultimate service. She’s seems so lovely and down to earth. I would love to talk Business with her.
Quote I love: Know your worth, or you will forever feel worthless.
When you’re not working, what do you love doing: I love going out for lunch with my amazing supportive Boyfriend and coming up with different business ideas. We both love coming up with new business ideas.
My favorite thing about owning my own business: Chatting!!! I can talk for England. I have some clients I know I need to book in for longer slots…
The thing I dislike most about owning my own business: Cleaning all the time, the overspray is a nightmare, even though I use an extractor fan it still finds its way out of the tent, so please any tips on how I can prevent this please share.
How would your clients describe you: Welcoming, enthusiastic, bubbly, kind hearted, not judgmental, talented, caring, funny, talkative, generous, compassionate and understanding
If I could share some wisdom with someone just getting started in this industry what would it be: Believe in skills and knowledge, never do what clients tell you, you know best. Also its so important to believe and love the products you sell, never sell a client a product they don’t need.
Any parting words? Know your worth, Don’t dilute your service and knowledge. Be consistent and don’t give up if its slow to begin with. I was brave in just sticking to offering Spray tanning.
